Guilmon has three spiky scales on each of his cheeks, and he's recently regained his original black markings, white belly, and yellow eyes. This gives him a fairly distinct appearance. He also carries himself with a happier, goofier demeanor and less of a perpetual scowl. His high, childish voice also may seem out of place for a second stage Pokémon, but if he gets too swept up in the heat of battle, that more familiar ferocity shows its face.
